Darrell Clarke has completed the loan signing of young Swansea City striker Oliver McBurnie.Oliver McBurnie signs for Bristol Rovers

McBurnie, who scored at The Mem for Chester City last season, had a short loan spell with Newport County earlier in the season – in which he will be most remembered for a debut hat trick against Luton Town.

The 19 year old striker, who joined Swansea from Bradford in the summer, is best known for his heading ability. Standing at 6 ft 2, he is not shy in the air and gasheads will be hoping he can show that in front of the Blackthorn tomorrow night, against AFC Wimbledon.

Though he played several first team games for Bradford City, it’s fair to say McBurnie is relatively unproven in the football league thus far – and a run in Darrell Clarke’s play off contending side will hopefully be beneficial for both parties.

With Rory Gaffney out injured, and Ellis Harrison having only recently returned from injury, it remains to be seen whether McBurnie will find himself starting his Bristol Rovers career on the bench. Let’s hope he has what it takes to keep us up in the top 7 until the end of the season.

I’ve been a Rovers fan since birth and have been a season ticket holder for over 10 years. First season ticket was the promotion from L2 under Trollope, so not a bad bit of luck that. Been hooked ever since, and though I’ve been through the pain of two more relegations, I am more Gas than ever. Also one of the 3 founders of GasCast.
